Kaptai Lake, Rangamati, Bangladesh
Kaptai Lake is in Rangamati district of Bangladesh. It is the largest man made lake found in Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest and beautiful tourism place in Bangladesh.Its total area is 220 square kilo meter. The average depth is 30 meter and maximum depth is 150 meter.
Since 1956 when the construction of only one hydro-electric project of Bangladesh started then a dam was build on Karanafuli river that is called Kaptai dam. This lake was the result of that Kaptai Dam.
There is a Lake View Island which was built at a place surrounded by small mounds on the banks of Lake Kaptai under the supervision of the Bangladesh army.
